"Welcome to Everything!" is the underlying philosophy and motto behind the Dubai Mall where Islamic tradition meets Western culture and capitalism. Part of the Burj Khalifa complex, the enterprise was conceived with a view to cross the boundaries of mere shopping. It is a unique shopping and leisure experience that comprises several smaller malls. It has the first Galeries Lafayette department store in the Middle East, Bloomingdale's, Marks & Spencer and a 33,000 sq ft store that includes a replica of London's Regent Street.

Dubai Mall is a luxurious mega-commercial site where Islamic tradition meets Western style business and capitalism. The Mall is abuzz with crowds of hijab and burqa-clad women and men in traditional Middle Eastern wear and a multitude of tourists of all nationalities carrying armloads of shopping bags amidst glitter and gold decor, Persian rugs, warm lights, sleek store displays and sparkling mall decorations hanging from the ceilings like gold dust falling from the sky.

There are events and happenings attracting crowds at every turn; jugglers, vendors and fortune tellers, all trying to sell their art, seem to have come out of an authentic Arabian Souq. At night the Dubai Mall fountains, one of the Mall's trademark attractions, light up the night as they turn to gold and shoot out at regular intervals.
